The European Union was created in 1957. Different countries have joined over the years. Others are still in negotiations to become members. Its original aim has been reached: free circulation of goods and people. The euro - the EU common currency - enbroadens the possibility to travel freely.
On April, 17th, 2003 the Athenian Acropolis took the presidents of 25 European countries in. Their aim was to enlarge the EU on January,1st, 2004. Nevertheless, the current members agree on potential members to modify their economical policies. The European Union means, in the short run, the NEW EUROPE.
